In this video, we will take a break from our essays and focus on the small words that we need to join our ideas - transition signals. Or, as they are sometimes called signpost words. Or even, bridging words. In fact, it doesn't matter what you call them, as long as you use them! Together, we'll look at
- why transition signals are different from other types of joining words
- how transition signals show the relationships between sentences (addition, contrast, result, examples, etc)
- how to avoid always using transition signals at the beginning of sentences (which is a bad idea for your Lexical Resource score)
- how to use commas correctly with transition signals (those pesky little commas again!)
In addition, I don't need to remind you to do the practice activities, right...?!
