Letters of Request and Enquiry: Request Questions
Right, the fun really starts here as we start to look at each type of IELTS letter in turn. First up, it's our letters of request and enquiry, which I think are perhaps the most common type of IELTS letters. In this video we will learn:
- what the difference between a request and an enquiry is (and how Americans pronounce enquiry really strangely)
- how to form and use 5 different types of requests: could questions, would questions, if questions, indirect questions, and question tags.
- how to choose the correct type of request based on formality AND the size of the favour you are asking for (because you don't ask to borrow money in the same way you ask to borrow a pencil!)
