Letters of Explanation and News
Now we know how to use all of the narrative tenses correctly, it's time to look at the two types of letter that use them most- letters of explanation and news. But, as we will see, tense isn't the only important aspect of these letters- we also need to use discourse markers. Discourse what? Discourse markers! These are the words we use to show the relationship between sentences, or our attitude towards information. Think transition signals, but more friendly! Plus, to get a high coherence and cohesion score, we also need to have good referencing. Referencing? Yes! Those small words we use to replace nouns so that we aren't always repeating the same words again and again and again. I'm telling you, this video is jam-packed with powerful score boosting material!
